Intergraded systems describe how the system is attached in relationship to the building. The system acts as part of the building and replaces parts of the roof, landscape, wall or whatever location is chosen. This replacement happens in the solar collection area. Other components are hidden as much as possible. Benefits: The integrated components add to, or at least do not impact the architecture of the building the way that frame mounted systems do. They blend in and can last longer than the building component they are replacing. This lowers installation costs. Shortcomings: Generally the collectors are not as efficient as frame mount systems of the same size. This can be eliminated by increasing the amount of the panels installed. |
